Thursday night Florida Pond Gander Les Wells and I traveled to the banks of the new Texas Puddle, no not across the Gulf, but in Lakewood Ranch, right at our back door.  I am happy to announce that the Flamingo Puddle (Sarasota/Bradenton) now has a membership of fourteen enthusiastic Ganders.  That brings the total of NEW Florida Ganders up to twenty this week.

Yes, you are correct, there are only 13 Goslings pictured.  Gail Krinsky was initiated in Tampa.

Read Florida's Flamingo Puddle Meeting Summary here.

At the last gathering of the Florida Pond in 2009, it was Les, Caroll Wade, Gary Benson, Andra Bramlet, Donna and I.  Actually, the Florida Pond had nine dues paying members as of Tuesday (plus eighteen Life and three Duals).  Eleven of those eighteen, I’ve never laid eyes on.  And one more, I met once at a Georgia Pond party many, many moons ago.  As I recall, it was sometime in the 1980's.

The Flamingo Puddle’s charity is Feeding Empty Little Tummies, a Manatee County food bank program providing meals to homeless children on the weekends.   As yet, they have not organized themselves into an official puddle with officers, so they are officially just members at large of the Texas Pond.

Future gatherings on the banks of the Flamingo Puddle are as follows:
June 27, 2013
July 25, 2013
August 22, 2013
September 26, 2013
October 24, 2013
(4th Thursday of the month)

There’s a fifteen dollar CASH ONLY cover charge for dinner.

The above gatherings are at the Polo Grill and Bar in Lakewood Ranch at 5:30pm.  To get there, take I-75 to the Sarasota-Bradenton Airport and Lakewood Ranch exit with “University Parkway” in small lettering on the exit sign (Exit 213), that’s just 48 miles south of I-4.  Then go east and take the first left onto Market Street.  You’ll quickly come to a really weird traffic circle.  Go 180 degrees around it to the right, being careful that it’s a two-way circle with really heavy oncoming traffic and stop signs.  [Going the other way dumps you into a parking lot where you have to exit and reenter the traffic circle.]  You’ll cross Town Center Parkway and Lakewood Ranch Blvd.  Go past the Regions Bank and turn right to the next building on the right with big letters for “Ballroom.”  The Polo Grill is at the far end of the building.  Polo is like in the horse riding game that English royalty like to play.
