We held a well attended gathering on Thursday, September 23rd at the Westshore DoubleTree Hotel. Actually attendance was down due to a conflict with a Golf Outing in Orlando. The room would accommodate 48 people and was almost completely full.

To begin the meeting, PMLGG George Harwood, representing the Grand Nest Officers, presented MLG Margo Leiser with a certificate representing one of two Southern Regional Charity Awards, in our case for the largest percentage increase in membership for July, 2013 through June, 2014 among all the Ponds in the Southern Region. The Virginia Pond won the other award for the most new members of 31. Each award carries a $125 donation to the Pond’s charity. Ours was included in the amount given to A Kid’s Place.

We presented checks of $2000 to A Kid’s Place and $907.12 each to Achieve Development Inc., Peak Group Home and United Urban Outreach. All are foster care facilities. Plus we had donations of approximately $100 worth of peanut butter, sippy cups and bibs for A Kid’s Place.

At the golf outing last month, we received eleven paid and five unpaid applications for membership. Then at the meeting, we took in another twelve paid applications for membership. We then initiated the twelve Goslings that were present. Most of those not present were at the Orlando golf outing. So we hope to initiate them at the next meeting.
