OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE FLORIDA POND

April 25, 2013

We are a professional insurance fraternity founded in 1906 on the banks of “the Mother Pond” at Green Lake, Wisconsin and dedicated to promoting the cardinal principles of Character, Charity and Fellowship.

MAY 22 GATHERING

We will again gather on the banks of the Pond at 5:30pm on Wednesday, May 22.  We consider Maggiano’s a bit too pricey and will be looking into other ponds in the area.  Leroy Selmon’s seems like the most likely candidate.  We will be advising further via e-mail.

Don’t forget to bring supplies for our charity, A Kid’s Place.  In the future, they need bleach, toilet bowl cleaner and trash bags.  And of course, your check payable to “A Kids Place” always works.

APRIL 24 GATHERING

We gathered on the banks of the Pond on Wednesday, April 24th at 5:30pm again at Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant in the Westshore Mall.  Due to a snafu, our room reservation was recorded for the wrong date.  As a result, the eleven Ganders and Goslings gathered sat at a table and ordered off the menu.

Additionally, we gathered a paper case box full of toiletries for A Kids Place, which Margo Leiser delivered.  The Pond also made a $100 contribution to A Kids Place, which was matched by our international headquarters (the Grand Nest).  One Gander also contributed $25 for a total cash gift of $225.

The Pond received five applications for membership.  Due to the lack of privacy, we were unable to initiate any Goslings.  We hope the three ladies from Travelers will be submitting their applications.

At our next meeting, we hope to hold an initiation and election of officers.  I am reprinting the officers’ duties for your consideration.  Margo Leiser has expressed an interest in being Most Loyal Gander and Terri Brown in being Supervisor of the Flock.  However, anyone can run for any office, so please consider volunteering.  No previous experience is required.  We do not discriminate based on race, creed, color, sex, national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation or opinion as to who killed the Kennedys.  (The Stones say “it was you and me.”)
