January 23, 2014

Thursday night, January 22, the Florida Pond gathered on the banks of Lee Roy Selmon’s Westshore for our monthly meeting.  In addition to six Ganders being present, we had 1 Gosling.  Three other Ganders were unable to attend for various reasons.  Also, two visiting Grand Nest Officers from the Northeast had to cancel due to the Winter Storm.

The meeting was very productive, as can be revealed in our minutes:

•       We received three new applications – Lisa Weinstein, Sylvia Parks and Anthony Brown –
•       Next meeting will be at Lee Roy Selmon’s on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 5:30 – Please note this change!
•       At the next meeting we will have our initiations for our new members – Trevor will call and reserve the room in the back of Lee Roy Selmon’s for the meeting.
•       Following meetings for March and beyond will be the 3rd Thursday of each month (instead of 4th Wednesday) – March meeting will be March 20, 2014
•     We plan to hold a social event, being planned for O’Brien’s Irish Pub located at 11744 N Dale Mabry Hwy (near Van Dyke Rd, specific directions to follow) – The event is for Thursday, March 13, 2014 and will be our St. Patrick’s Day Party – It was agreed that one drink and the appetizers will be on the Blue Goose – this is considered another membership drive and everyone is encouraged to bring some friends along.
•       We discussed having a social event once a quarter
•       Natilsha will follow up at the next meeting to obtain everyone’s birthday and it is her duty to obtain new members emails so she can follow up and encourage them to join our group
•     We discussed wearing our pins to the meetings – if we show up without the pins then it will cost $5 and that will be added to our funds for future events.
•        So remember to wear your pins and show your support!!!
•     We received two bags of cold medicine for A Kid’s Place and collected $40 – Margo will purchase Wal-mart gift cards with the money so they can buy whatever else is necessary
•     We also discussed that in the future we would like to begin offering CEU’s, which will help in getting adjusters to come out and find out what the Blue Goose is and what our fraternity has to offer. We will continue to explore this idea and Adam stated that he could do a class, and Trevor stated he could probably get one of his engineers to also do a class and probably hold the event.
•     Natilsha and Margo will make the deliveries to A Kid’s Place on Saturday and take pictures of the delivery to publish our efforts on our website to help drum up support -
